What interests you most in the Star Wars universe?
It sounds extremely cheesy, considering I'm applying for it, but goddamnit, I love the Mandalorians, they're the coolest faction in the entirety of sci-fi, and just their armor is enough to give you the idea that screwing with them is the last mistake you'll ever make. Aside from that, I love the spaghetti western aspects of the franchise, that sort of feel that no one is the wiser, and if you start to think otherwise about yourself, you'll very quickly find out that the blaster is the galaxy's equalizer.
What is the name of your character, and what is their history?
Arak Vizla is a human male, born of the famous Clan Vizla. He was trained from an early age to become a Mandalorian Warrior. He spent most of his years selling his services as a guard dog, protecting spice traders and escorting important individuals. He participated in a Great Hunt, in which a Sith Lord sliced his arm off. He replaced it with a robotic one, and modified it to be able to slice into security systems when needed. Soon after, he was called to service, to serve in Mand'alor's conscripted army. While in the army, he developed a fanatical loyalty to the Mand'alor, suppressed only by his own willingness to survive so he could serve for longer. His tour of duty soon ended, and he was given leave to return to his mercenary ways. He now travels the galaxy, accepting jobs for whoever, while holding true to the Mandalorian Creed.
What drew you to the character role you have selected?
I have some experience with Mandalorians. Back in the day, I was Mand'alor on a now-closed server known as Athena Networks. It wasn't all that special, but we managed to get a decent amount of people. I'd love to become a Mandalorian again, it's so much fun. You don't have to stick with one side your entire character life.
What are your character’s main motivations, and how will you use that to drive your story?
Arak is a patriot of the Mandalorians, someone who will do anything to insure they are a respected ally and a feared foe. He views anything less than total and complete adherence to the Code of Honor as an insult. Those who dare to undermine the might of the clans, he gives a helpful reminder of what Mandalorians are capable of. This sort of fanatical thought could start to deteriorate based on the kinds of things he is asked to do, or it could remain if he is hardened by what he sees as insults against the clans.
Why has your character not joined either the Republic or Imperial military with their combat ability?
Being born and raised by the Mandalorian clans, Arak has no aspirations to serve in either the Republic or the Sith Empire, as his duty is to the Mandalorians alone. He believes that both the Jedi and Sith view their troopers as little more than cannon fodder, and as such, he would view any recruitment attempt to be an insult.
What is your character’s goal as a Mercenary?
Arak hopes that with his assistance as a hired gun, the Mandalorians will gain influence and power throughout the galaxy. He hopes that, should the clans require it, they can call on a swath of allies to defeat their enemies. The credits are an added bonus.
How will your character interact with the Republic and Empire?
Though for many years, the Mandalorians have served the Sith, Arak has grown wise to their plots and schemes, and has disassociated himself from them. He holds no grudges against Mandalorians who take jobs for them, but he has resigned himself to working for the underworld, and on occasions, the Republic. Arak will not tolerate either faction attempting to undermine the clans, and will position his relationships with both accordingly depending on the situation.
